Crooked teeth ruin a perfectly good smile. In the past, people think there’s not much they can do about it, but with advancement in dental technology—and cosmetic dentistry, specifically—crooked, cracked, or lost teeth can be fixed in the shortest time possible. Dental braces, for instance, now also come in a form that is removable, and virtually undetectable.

The current favorite in modern braces is Invisalign. They come in clear, plastic dental trays for both upper and lower teeth, and are completely removable, unlike traditional braces, for the convenience of brushing teeth or eating. Traditional braces, however, are still the preferred option for major teeth straightening.

Lingual braces are another option. They are like traditional non-removable braces but they are placed behind the teeth, which makes them less discernible. However, they can be quite difficult to install, and like conventional braces, can be troublesome to clean. Additionally, they can cause some speech problems and tongue pain before you get used to them.

Self-ligating braces are the next choice. Using built-in clips instead of plastic bands, they automatically adapt, and this reduces the need for regular adjustments. Expect a shorter time for this kind of dental braces to finish its job.

Finally, ceramic and metal braces are your basic braces. They are the cheapest options available. However, ceramics are usually nearly undetectable because of their color.
