What are the Typical Dental Emergencies?

There are times when your teeth or gums need immediate attention from a dentist. This is called a dental emergency. Here are some common occurrences that can be classified as dental emergencies.

Dental Pain. Unbearable tooth pain can be an indication of severe dental conditions like infection, tooth trauma, gum disease, and the like. If the cause is not too severe, the levels of pain may not be as bad, but can still hamper an individual’s ability to function, making it important to get some relief right away.

Swollen Gums. This may be caused by Gingivitis, bacterial infection, or tooth decay. Swelling leads to problems, such as the spread of an infection and an unpleasant appearance.

Broken or Chipped Tooth. A break in a tooth exposes the tubules where blood supply circulates in the teeth, making the tooth susceptible to infection. It needs to be fixed immediately to cover the exposure. A broken tooth may also have sharp edges that can wound the mouth and the tongue.

Damage in Restorative Dental Appliance. A lost filling, broken crown, cracked dentures, and lo0se/broken implants can cause serious problems if not given attention right away.
When emergencies occur, time is of the essence. There are dental offices that provide emergency dental services 24/7. It is best to see these emergency dentists right away.
